Orchard Toys annual golf day a super success!
TnP Founder and Lema Publishing MD Malcolm Naish shares a picture and few thoughts on the wonderful Orchard Toys Gold Day, held last week
I am delighted to picture myself with Nick Wright and Hugh Beevor as winners of the afternoon team prize. It is most rare for me to win anything, so I must congratulate my team mates, although I did contribute from time to time. Also congratulations to Mark Goodall who returned after an absence of six years to win the individual Stableford prize with 41 points, my team mate Nick Wright was second on count back with 36 points. Very well organised by Simon Prest, this is the first of the toy trade golf days and a great opportunity to catch up with toy mates following on from the toy fair season.
Burghley Park is just off the A1 a few miles from Peterborough, so a simple enough drive from Herfordshire, up the A1 from Hatfield. I would love to know why the powers that be who decide to close motorways, can do so without any detour signs.
A few miles down the A1, all traffic shunted on to an A road that after thirty miles led to Stanstead, so on down the M11 to the M25, which I then find is also closed in both directions. So finally via Harlow, Hertford I arrive home at 12.30. And a three hour plus drive. I almost felt like drinking one of Kevin Jone's fine red wines that comprised part of my kindly-donated prize.
