Action Man goes to the movies

Paramount and Hasbro team up for new film

Hasbro’s Action Man, the action figure that was first introduced in the mid-60s, is finally making it to the big screen.

Reports suggest the film will be directed by James Bobin, whose credits include two Muppets films, and Flight of the Conchords.

Simon Farnaby, the Bafta-nominated screenwriter on Paddington 2, is set to write the script.

Although he has never made it to the big screen before, Action Man has appeared in two animated TV series, in 1995 and 2000.

Hasbro has given other products the silver screen treatment, including the hit franchise Transformers, Battleship and GI Joe.

Hasbro also signed a deal with Emmett/Furla Films back in 2012 to make films based on Monopoly.

  • Danilo now has the licence for Action Man greetings cards and has released a range of designs with a strong retro appeal among adult males.
