Shape up and dance
Ian and Kara shimmy up the star quota at Toy Fair’s opening day
The stars were out on the opening day of Toy Fair with Strictly Come Dancing’s Ian Waite waltzing on to the John Adams stand, while actress Kara Tointon visited Asmodee.
Ian was on hand for the dramatic unveiling of Strictly Come Dancing The Board Game yesterday and shimmied across John Adams’ dancefloor to the BBC show’s real Glitter Ball trophy, joking: “This is as close as I’ll ever come to winning the trophy!”
Excited for the launch, Sales Director Bruno Gallone says: “This is a family game first – gameplay was always important so the rules allow anyone in the family to give it a go – and they might even learn a dance move or two.
“Given that five million people apply to go see Strictly live every year, we know this is going to be phenomenally popular.”
Meanwhile, the Asmodee stand was swamped yesterday as EastEnders and Mr Selfridge star Kara shared her personal connection to new game Arokah.
Kara has been involved with the project for around five years and credits the shape game with helping her overcome dyslexia.
Chatting with buyers and media to help them understand why the games is unique, she brought a real buzz to the new launch, and Marketing Manager Ben Hogg says the game was received extremely well.
