Giant version of the company's Hot Wheels R/C Drone & Vehicle Sets will take part in the family event

Bladez Toyz is excited to be unveiling a Gigantic Radio Control Hot Wheels Drone Racer at the Hamleys Christmas Parade on Sunday 19 November to celebrate the launch of its award winning Hot Wheels R/C Drone & Vehicle Sets.

Embracing Hot Wheels’ core brand message Challenge Accepted, Bladez’s resident Innovation Design Engineer and YouTuber James Bruton accepted an epic challenge from Bladez Toyz CEO Iain Morgan to design and build a 25:1 scale model Drone Racer and film the project for his YouTube channel.

After months of hard work and engineering brilliance, the super-size Drone Racer looks exactly like the toy, but now sits at six-feet long and six-feet wide, with full radio control function.  The giant Drone Racer will be driven by James during the Hamleys Christmas Parade and fans can attend a meet and greet at the Bladez Toyz marquee on Regent Street throughout the day to take photos, ask the team questions and enter an Instagram competition to win a Drone & Vehicle Set.

Iain said: “We are lucky to have someone of the calibre of James on our team who is famous for his record breaking, giant scale engineering creations and amazing craftsmanship.  It made perfect sense to ask him to build a promotional Drone Racer which we can then use at events to raise awareness of our new Hot Wheels toys. With almost half a million subscribers and over 150 million views on his YouTube channel, James can help us reach a wider audience within the Maker and STEM community for children and we’re really looking forward to him entertaining the crowds at the Hamleys Parade on Sunday and to inspiring the engineers of the future.  We will also be taking our awesome Drone Racer on the road in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hot Wheels, so watch this space for more stunts next year!”

James added: “This has been a fantastic engineering project to work on and it will be a proud moment for all of the Bladez team when the Drone Racer takes to the street for the first time at the Hamleys Parade.   My YouTube episodes showing the different stages of the Drone Racer build have performed very well with over 150,000 views between them so far.  We have had lots of comments praising this fun project and plans are already underway to build version two!”

Part one and part two of the Hot Wheels Drone Racer Build Project can be viewed on YouTube channel and a final installment will be posted on Tuesday 21 November showing all the fun from this weekend’s Hamleys festivities.

The Hamleys Christmas Parade begins at 11am and the Bladez Toyz marquee is open until 4.30pm, situated south of Hamleys toy store on the corner of New Burlington Street.
