NEXXBlades Pilot Johnny FPV met fans and taught them drone flying tricks at the event at Smyths Toys Superstores

Air Hogs brand ambassador NEXXBlades Pilot Johnny FPV spent a busy afternoon in Smyths Toys Superstores at South Wing Business Park, Kinsale Road on Thursday 14 September.

Johnny is currently visiting Ireland as part of the DR1 2017 DHL International Race Series and took time out of his busy race schedule for the event.

During the afternoon, a host of lucky youngsters from Cork learned how to fly like a professional with Johnny completing some adrenaline-fuelled stunts and tricks, using the new Air Hogs DR1 FPV Race Drone which went on sale this month. The kids enjoyed the stunts and got to experience FPV (first person view) as if they were sitting in the cockpit of the drone as it whizzed around the toy aisles by wearing the goggles from the DR1 FPV Race Drone.

Smyths Store Manager, Brendan O Callaghan, said: “We’ve had a great time working with Spin Master’s Air Hogs and Johnny FPV today giving us this chance to invite our customers who have an interest in drones to come in-store today.  Drone racing is something that is truly capturing kids' imaginations and it was great for our staff to get involved and learn more about the Air Hogs drones as well"

Air Hogs Senior Brand Manager Ranjit Dhutti added: “Having Johnny over in Ireland gave us the perfect opportunity to offer Smyths Toys this high-octane event. It was great to get our demo team into store getting kids experiencing the fun and excitement that can be had with these amazing Air Hogs products.  Johnny is a highly accomplished pilot and really put the Air Hogs DR1 FPV race drone through its paces showing what its capable of – plus we generated some excellent media coverage in some of Ireland’s key media including the Irish Examiner and Cork96FM who both came out to interview Johnny and take pictures during the afternoon’s activities!"
