NPD puts it top five for Skates/Skateboard/Scooter category

Recent NPD data show Re:creation's Razor brand portfolio more than made its mark on the Skates/Skateboard/Scooter category in 2016, scooping all top five spots by value for the final quarter of 2016 (NPD Market Data: Skates, Scooters & Skateboards. Ranked by Manufacturer, £ Value, Oct-Dec 16).

The brand's ultimate ownership of the electric scooter arena shone through with both evergreen favourites E90 and E100 taking the top spots and late 2016 launch HoverTrax 2.0 achieving an impressive #3 position, the only 'hover board' style product to get a look in in the top ten.

This news comes as recent data from The NPD Group in the US also showcased the storming impact HoverTrax 2.0 has made on the other side of the Atlantic too. Not only achieving  #1 selling item in overall toy sales for November 2016 in the United States, the product was also ranked #3 of all new toys launched in 2016 (Source: The NPD Group/Retail Tracking Service/U.S. Toys/Dollars).

Re:creation's Senior Brand Manager, Katy Fletcher said: "These latest figures reveal Razor's domination of the category, and this really pays testament to the brand's dedication and passion for innovation and quality of design. The fantastic results seen for HoverTrax 2.0 in the US offer us an incredible insight to the potential of HoverTrax 2.0 for the UK. It’s evident that consumers see the Razor brand as a representation of quality, safety and innovation. We're already seeing strong demand for this exciting ride-on here and as we continue to drive awareness with a 360 degree marketing campaign that takes full advantage of the vast and inspiring assets available, we look forward to building on these results this year and beyond.”

Re:creation’s marketing plans to build on this success include heavyweight TV, PR and digital communications as well as event activity.  Among the Razor brand's fans is online toy review star Tiana of ToysandMe whose recent video showcasing HoverTrax 2.0 amassed over a million views in just two days.
