Introducing the Bigjigs Rail Mallard Battery Operated Engine

Bigjigs Rail has collaborated with the National Railway Museum to produce a replica of the iconic Mallard; the world’s fastest ever steam locomotive.

Liz Ireland, Managing Director, says: “We're delighted to be adding a further battery operated engine to the Bigjigs Rail range in the iconic Mallard design. Bigjigs Toys have held the National Railway Museum licence for the wooden Mallard and other replica engines for three years . Mallard is a wonderful engine and this model, which has been designed by Bigjigs Toys, adds further play value to our traditional wooden rail range. This design offers wonderful and continued play opportunities with the Bigjigs Rail system and combines well with our tracks, tunnels, bridges and sheds.”

Zuzi Wojciechowska, Senior Account Manager – Brand Licensing at the Science Museum Group, which includes the National Railway Museum, adds: “We’re really pleased to expand our partnership with Bigjigs Rail to include the Mallard Battery Operated Engine. Mallard is one of the National Railway Museum’s most iconic locomotives. The Bigjigs Rail ranges have really helped engage young audiences with our brands, including Flying Scotsman, Stephenson’s Rocket, Duchess of Hamilton and now Mallard.”

Compatible with all other engines and carriages in the Bigjigs Rail range, the Mallard Battery Operated Engine will be the perfect addition to a growing train set. The Mallard train set will be available to the trade and retail market from now.
